Week of April 13-17

Our star of the week was Rachel and she brought her dog, Pi, in to visit!

Word Work
  • We learned the last 5 of our fry words!
  • still, learn, should, America, world
  • Learned the blends ir and pt

Writer's Workshop
  • We immersed into realistic fiction series text, like Junie B. Jones
  • We created a new adventure for our realistic fiction character
  • Created a new realistic problem for our character
  • Learned different ways to introduce our character in the beginning of our chapter
  • Wrote important details regarding what happened in our first book of the series. 
Reader's Workshop
  • We preformed our Reader's Theater for another first grade class! They were AWESOME!!













  • We reviewed how to retell a story in correct order using many different mentor texts
Science
  • We focused on different parts of a plant such as the seed, root, stem, leaves, and flower. We made a foldable with a diagram and facts of the plant!
Social Studies
  • We learned about more famous people! 
  • Johnny Appleseed, Pocahontas, and Albert Einstein
Math
  • We learned and can now identify 3D shapes
  • Learned how to tell time to the half hour
  • Reviewed reading data such as tally marks and bar graphs
  • Learned how to do number grid puzzles
  • Mentally found 10 more and 10 less of a number
